EXPOSED CONCRETE
Exposed concrete is a decorative form of concrete where the aggregate (rock) is visible. Its finish is achieved by spraying on a concrete retardant once the slab has been placed and finished. This allows the concrete underneath to fully set while the surface remains relatively wet and can be easily removed.
We return the following day to wash the surface off with pressure washers. This process removes approximately 3-5mm off the top of the slab, depending on which concrete mix you have chosen. Utmost care is taken during this step to tape up and cover any surrounding areas including houses, sheds and fences as the washing off process can be quite messy.
Once the concrete is fully cured (which can take 2-4 weeks depending on weather conditions), we recommend sealing your exposed concrete with a high quality penetrating sealer (this comes in either a matte or semi-gloss finish). This will help minimise discolouration and staining of the exposed aggregate concrete which can occur due to the weather and vehicle traffic.
Based on the steps involved in achieving this type of finish it is best to consult with a professional and reputable concrete company to make sure you receive a high quality result without any damage to surrounding areas. Creative Concreting & Construction will be more than happy to discuss any of your decorative concreting needs.

OUR SAFETY PRACTICES & EQUIPMENT
Our Safety Practices and Equipment
At Creative Concreting and Construction, we take the safety of not only our employees, but our clients and the public, seriously. With such a big emphasis now on silica dust and its potential dangers, we have taken further steps to implement the handling and cutting of concrete in extremely safe manners.
We own the following vacuums, and they are always available for use when required:
-
H-Class Vacuums which reduces the chance of silica dust being emitted into the atmosphere.
-
Wet/Slurry Vacuums which minimise the mess when cutting concrete and washing off exposed concrete.
-
A Water Recycling Vacuum which is used on all core drilling jobs to eliminate any dust.
-
We carry regularly serviced first aid kits in all our vehicles, have up to date SWMS/JSA documents on hand at all times and have a thorough Company WHS Policy and reporting procedure. Our staff will always come to a job site equipped in hi-vis work uniform as well as safety boots and always have on hand, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses and masks to use when required. We are content to complete any online inductions which may be required on certain job sites as well as provide proof of all our current insurance policies when requested.
By employing an in-house Quality Control Officer, we will always make sure that our job sites are kept in a safe and respectable manner and the above practices are being followed. We will also have the site inspected post clean-up to make sure nothing has been missed or overlooked.
